Virtual Careers Fair for Greater China and South East Asia
Introduction
With Scottish Government funding, The Scottish branch of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), a representative organisation for all university careers services in the UK, is delivering a series of virtual international careers fairs, to support students and graduates educated in Scotland to find employment opportunities in Asia, particularly in China (Hong Kong), Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. This year AGCAS’ head office in Sheffield is providing additional funding to enable the event to be made available to students/graduates of all universities in the UK.
What are virtual careers fairs?
Virtual fairs take place on a web-based platform upon which are gathered a number of software tools. Using these tools allows employers to:
• Access to a database of CVs of UK educated students/alumni.
• Advertise vacancies to UK educated students/alumni.
• Promote the organisation’s brand.
• Participate in live chats with potential candidates.
Why participate in virtual careers fairs?
Participation is FREE OF CHARGE and represents an extremely efficient way of raising an organisation’s profile amongst UK-educated graduates and meeting recruitment needs without the expense of an overseas recruitment campaign.
They offer a chance to access a large pool of talent with international experience, which:
• Brings cultural and linguistic advantages.
• Has demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to cope in another country.
• May offer a UK network of contacts to facilitate international business.
