Graduates with Experience
Many students still study on traditional full-time 3-4 year degree courses and graduate in their early twenties. However this is changing with an increasing number of mature students entering higher education and a large number of international students studying at Scottish Universities, particularly at post graduate level. To help fund themselves through Higher Education many of these students have to work part time as well as throughout the university vacation gaining valuable experience that can be useful in any workplace. Those with additional time available often get involved in volunteering and university clubs and societies bringing a wealth of skills and experience to graduate employers.
If you are looking for a graduate with more substantial experience of the workplace, particularly in your job sector you may also want to look at:
- Sandwich graduates who have undertaken up to a year's industrial training as an integral part of their degree.
- Part-time graduates who have been able to apply their studies to their work and can offer both directly relevant experience and a degree.
- Linguists who understand both the language and business cultures, having spent a year abroad.
- Mature graduates with previous experience either directly related to your business, or from which technical and non technical skills can be transferred.
