Where can I find LMI for Scotland?
Labour Market Intelligence for Scotland is available via a number of online sources. The AGCAS (Scotland) website provides links to LMI produced by Futureskills Scotland, Local Enterprise Companies, Learning and Skills Councils, the Scottish Executive and others.
Careers Scotland also makes available numerous reports and other information on Scotland's labour market.
Although the most in-depth LMI is to be had from published research and statistical analyses of the labour market, these reports are not necessarily the only source. For example, reading job advertisements in newspapers and trade journals are simpler sources of information that can give you an idea of available jobs, where they are located and what skills are in demand. ‘How Do I find Work?' has more detailed information about sources, but here are some ideas to get you started:

Ask your Careers Service for other information they may have collected themselves about the Scottish Labour Market in general and information on specific localities, sectors and occupations. For example, the University of Glasgow Careers Service provides an online copy of the Scottish Executive's Scotland Fact Pack on its International Students page which includes some basic information about Scotland's economy and industries as well as facts about the country. Careers Services will also have a number of print resources including Where next? Guide to the UK Labour Market by Region published by AGCAS.
