What Next?

Use your Careers Service

University Careers Services provide support to students at their university and to their graduates for some time after graduation, and also some services to graduates from other UK universities:

  • Access the vacancies they advertise – often on-line
  • Get feedback on your CV and covering letter
  • Get help to you identify where to look for vacancies in your chosen occupation
  • Get help to work out a job hunting strategy that's right for you
  • What your Careers Service won't do
  • They won't find a job for you (but they will help you to do it yourself!)
  • They won't tell you what job you should do (but they'll help you work it out for yourself!)
  • They won't “check” your CV (but they'll give you feedback to develop it yourself!)

Take the Initiative!

Use the activities and links in this section to:

  • Think about what type of work you can look for
  • Investigate advertised vacancies
  • Think about the network you can develop and the proactive approaches you can take
  • Begin to develop a job hunting strategy that's right for you
