Group Decisions 7

Group Decisions (contd)
Having participated in the decision making, team members have an obligation or 'moral' responsibility to help make the decision work - even though they might not have agreed with it.

To do otherwise may be seen as not playing a team role and may lead to the exclusion of the individual from the team in future situations as they have displayed unacceptable behaviour - lack of loyalty.

Decisions can be a multi-stage purpose
Sometimes the team cannot make a decision because:

  • It is outwith their responsibility or skills area - they may need to refer elsewhere

  • Further information is required

Once this has been done the team can reconvene and reconsider.
