Drying Up
Don't worry about drying up during a presentation.

If you lose your train of thought or forget what you were going to say - don't panic, your notes are there to prompt you.

There are many techniques for handling nerves such as:

  • Pause, take a deep breath and relax

  • Calmly refer to your notes - don't flap or flick through your notes quickly as this conveys panic

  • Have some 'safety valve questions or activities up your sleeve'. Ask the audience a question or set them an activity. While they are thinking about their response you will have time to regain your composure and your place. Make sure they cover the main sections of the presentation so that they don't look out of place.
