Rehearse!

Rehearse!
The presentation is now about ready to be delivered. But you must rehearse first to ensure the presentation:

  • Follows a logical structure

  • Gets across the key points

  • Is geared to the audience type and size

  • Sticks to the time allowed

  • Remember that the first 3 minutes are critical

  • Use facts/stories

  • Use relevant quotations - this gives your points credibility but make sure the person you are quoting is credible

Ask a friend or colleague to listen to you and get their feedback. Get them to ask you questions to help you anticipate and plan responses.

  • Have you been 'tough on information'?

  • You might have included a lot of interesting information, but is it really necessary?

  • Be more effective to get the message across by being critically selective

  • Put secondary information into a handout for audience members to read at their leisure
