Running a project 3

Running a project (contd) Phase 3

Phase 3 - Execution
When your project plan is agreed, your main responsibility is to monitor progress of the project. Have regular interim progress reviews, maybe weekly depending on the project.

This will involve:

  • Keeping watch on developments and noting any variations

  • Taking corrective action if problems appear

  • Anticipating and overcoming obstacles to progress

  • Communicating regularly with the team, including meetings and feedback

  • Working with team members to motivate and support them

  • Monitoring budgets and time spent

  • Communicating with the client

Use your project tools to help (refer back to Module 1).

Before handover to the client the product/service must be tested to ensure it meets the specification and agreed quality standards.

Remember this is the phase in the project that has the most activity.

Monitoring this activity is vital to ensure the project is delivered against time, quality and cost.
