Fast-tracking

Fast-tracking
Project life cycles tend to vary:

  • Between industries

  • Due to the complex and diverse nature of projects

Organisations have standardised procedures for project management and for structuring work using project life cycle phases.

To shorten the length of a project sometime Phases 2 and 3 are not conducted in sequence, but overlap - known as 'fast tracking.' It has to be carefully managed to reduce or eliminate risk.

Fast-tacking
In fast-tracking the activities in Phases 2 and 3 often overlap, so cutting down the project timescale.
