Effective Communication

Why are effective communications important?
We communicate for a wide variety of reasons. For example to:

  • Pass on information

  • Express emotion

  • Influence or persuade others

  • Enlist help or support

  • Socialise and entertain

  • Give or offer support

As we become more effective and accomplished communicators, we can become more effective in all we do.

Win-Win

  • Focus on needs and interests rather than wants and positions

  • Be honest about wants and needs

  • Discover other person’s wants and needs

  • Attitude and belief are critical to success

"As a software house, almost every employee in Newell & Budge has regular contact with clients.  It is therefore vital that every employee who joins us is able to develop positive and successful working relationships with our clients.I would urge anyone who wants to develop a successful career in IT to focus not just on building technical skills, but to put the time and effort into developing their interpersonal skills."
Ann Budge, Newell & Budge
