Why are writing skills important?Printed communications image
There are times, both in your private and business lives, when you need to communicate in writing to:

  • Pass on information

  • Enlist support

  • Influence and persuade

  • Report back on project status

In verbal communication you give and receive clues, e.g. tone of voice and body language, to help understanding, but these cannot be experienced in a letter. So it is important that you understand the skills and techniques available to make written communications as effective as possible.
