Listening 1

Listening as a Critical Skill in CommunicatingQuote
It is important that you check your message has been correctly received. We have seen how easily messages can be misinterpreted.

By listening to comments and questions from recipients you can tell whether or not your message is being accepted and whether further clarification is necessary.

Also listening shows you are recognising the recipient's point of view, making you more 'attractive'.

Spoken messages can easily be misheard and misinterpreted with significant consequences. for example - the well known First World War request to:

"Send reinforcements, we're going to advance" was received as "Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance."
