Communication 4
Communication process (contd)
Problems arise if your message is 'decoded' in a different way to the
way you 'encoded' it.
For example, when you are communicating with people from:
-
A different technical background
-
A different age range, or
-
With people whose first language is not your language
Consider the type of language that the recipients are familiar with and
adjust your message accordingly. You must express your message in a clear,
unambiguous way.
Decoding
Problems arise if the recipient "decode" the message in a different
way to the way we "encode" it. This interaction relates four examples
of specialised language as audio recordings:
Financial
How much tax free cash can you expect with your pension? The Government
will allow the lump sum from existing contracts to be respected and calculated
as the higher of: 125% of both pre- and post-implementation benefits;
or an exact valuation of pre-implementation lump sum rights, which would
be indexed; or 13/80ths for each year of service up to implementation
day multiplied by P60 salary in the tax year to implementation day, subject
to the relevant limits in the tax regime governing the person's existing
pension rights, and indexed.
Mechanical
To disassemble the Macpherson strut, mark the position of the upper bearing
plate so that it can be re-assembled in the same position. Remove the
two upper bearing plate nuts, and loosen the third nut. But don't remove
it. Raise the car, and remove the front wheels. Also, remove the speedometer
cable from the centre of the wheel hub, on the left side. Remove the brake
line held onto the strut by the locking clip. Remove the three lower strut
attachment bolts, break the strut free from the wheel casting and lower
the control arm. A pry bar may be necessary.
Medical
Ischemic heart disease is caused by an imbalance between the myocardial
blood flow and the metabolic demand of the myocardium. Reduction in coronary
blood flow is related to progressive atherosclerosis with increasing occlusion
of coronary arteries. Blood flow can be further decreased by superimposed
events such as vasospasm, thrombosis, or circulatory changes leading to
hypoperfusion. Coronary artery perfusion depends upon the pressure differential
between the ostia (aortic diastolic pressure) and coronary sinus (right
atrial pressure).
